North Raleigh Farmer's Market 

Hi everyone.. Quick e-mail to tell everyone thanks for the friendships and for buying our produce..We opened up another corn field today and will have another ready next week..The rains we had certainly came at a critical time for a lot of the corn.. We have tons of purple hull peas for those of you wanting to pick your own.WE  also have shelled and peas already to be shelled.. We also are having lots of extra green beans now.. Our Second crop of cantaloupes are starting in and we are still pulling in the first patch..It will be a few weeks on the last patch.. Some of our larger watermelons are ripe now and we will be bringing to the market.. We will have cukes for those ordering them today and probably a few extra.. Also we have canning tomatoes for those wanting to can..Just let us know and they can be picked up here or at one of the Markets..Squash,peppers,tomatoes, egg plants,okra and all kinds of beans are producing well and some of the second and third plantings are producing now as well..     We are still planting a lot and will start fall plantings in a few weeks... Hard to believe July is almost gone. Our Cary Market is doing well and hopefully our plans to preserve that farm will happen .. July 11 and August 1st the Wake County Pet Adoption Unit will visit the North Raleigh Farmer's Market. They will give us the opportunity to adopt dogs and cats right at the market.

Wow! I cannot believe June is almost over..It has been busy for everyone..Father's day was a day of remembrance.. Just a few short years ago my Dad rode a horse drawn wagon to the church for the last time...I made the trip with him up and down Orange Grove Road many times over the years but that Fathers Day was our last..Dad was a Farmer and his hands were testimony to his work..He loved animals and enjoyed hooking a team and working them or taking kids and adults for rides on our wagon..I miss him and yet i know he is in a grand place!         I am  watering everyday and the heat has been tough but corn is coming in, Cantaloupes,tomatoes,okra, peppers and beans ,beans and more beans are all really producing.. Peas are almost ready..Just a side note here >>> I have already canned 56 Qts of beans ..I will can some more of the late beans.. Tomatoes are next on my list to can but corn will be cut off the cob and frozen this week or next.        I have just planted about an acre of late beans,squash,peas and butter beans where our first Corn was.I am planting another planting of sweet corn and popcorn today..Michael is planting tomatoes today and more peppers..      Our new web site is not up but it should be soon.. I hope to include a little history of the Revolutionary war skirmish "The Battle of Kirk's Farm".. This  battle was down Cane Creek from us a little ways... The Web site should make Getting my e-mails out  easier and there will be a blog for those of you wanting to ask questions or make comments..        Cane Creek will be opening a market in Cary off Kildare Farm Rd..
