That means we are open all four seasons; in the Spring production on farms start ramping up and our farmers are ready to bring you all they have to offer. Therefore the Grand Opening of the NRFM is May 1st to coincide with the Falls River Town Center's Spring Fling. Tomorrow, April 24Th, many farmers will be at the market with a great deal of wares for you to purchase, but there will be even more vendors May 1st. Our market after May 1st will be Saturdays, 8am until noon, and Wednesdays, 2pm until 6pm. Next week I will send out the official invitation for the Grand Opening. I will also ask you to share that information with your friends on Facebook and elsewhere. This will be essential for a large turnout to the Spring Fling and the North Raleigh Farmer's Market Grand Opening. Some of our larger watermelons are ripe now and we will be bringing to the market.. We will have cukes for those ordering them today and probably a few extra.. Also we have canning tomatoes for those wanting to can..Just let us know and they can be picked up here or at one of the Markets..Squash,peppers,tomatoes, egg plants,okra and all kinds of beans are producing well and some of the second and third plantings are producing now as well.. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We are still planting a lot&nbsp;and will start fall plantings in a few weeks... Hard to believe July is almost gone. Our Cary Market is doing well and hopefully our plans to preserve that farm will happen&nbsp;.. I cannot believe June is almost over..It has been busy for everyone..Father's day was a day of remembrance.. Just a few short years ago my Dad rode a <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1246460081_0 style="CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed">horse drawn wagon</SPAN> to the church for the last time...I made the trip with him up and down Orange Grove Road many times over the years but that <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1246460081_1>Fathers Day</SPAN> was our last..Dad was a Farmer and his hands&nbsp;were testimony to his work..He loved animals and enjoyed hooking a team and working them or taking kids and adults for rides on our wagon..I miss him and yet i know he is in a grand place!&nbsp;  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I am&nbsp; watering everyday and the heat has been tough but corn is coming in, Cantaloupes,tomatoes,okra, peppers and beans ,beans and more beans are all really producing.. Peas are almost ready..Just a side note here &gt;&gt;&gt; I have already canned 56 Qts of beans ..I will can some more of the late beans.. Tomatoes are next on my list to can but corn will be cut off the cob and frozen this week or next. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I have just planted about an acre of late beans,squash,peas and butter beans where our first Corn was.I am planting another planting of <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1246460081_2>sweet corn</SPAN> and popcorn today..Michael is planting tomatoes today and more peppers.. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Our new web site is not up but it should be soon.. I hope to include a little history of the <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1246460081_3>Revolutionary war skirmish</SPAN> "The Battle of Kirk's Farm".. One day a friend and fellow home brewer brought a new brew for him to taste, mead. He loved the flavor and started to make his own, almost to the exclusion of brewing beer.
